Our Story

The Teashop started in Downe Village, 5 miles up the hill from where you sit now. We then fell in love with The Old Post Office in Brasted and decided to re-locate.

Over the years, this building was once a Billiard Room and then the Post Office (the post box at the front is still operational), then a café and now a Teashop. We have settled in Brasted as the building is beautiful and this fits in perfectly with village life.

The Teashop is currently run by Katrina. Over the past 18 years she’s worked across the food industry, starting out at the Tearooms at Down House and then travelling around the world. She then went onto gain a degree in Business and Hospitality, which moved her into managing a branch of well known cake bakeries in London.

Katrina has been baking since she could stand on a stool and reach the kitchen worktop, much to her mother’s delight! She has decided to spread her wings and bring together everything she has learnt to begin the opportunity of a lifetime; baking cakes everyday for people to enjoy. And we hope you do!

None of this would be possible without the help from friends and family along the way too. If it gets busy, they usually grab a cloth and help wash up - so a big thank you goes to everyone involved!
